For a downsizing couple, two apartments were combined and reconfigured into a serene, one full-floor residence with panoramic views of Central Park from three sides. The renovation included stripping all original surfaces and details and replacing them with a minimal, carefully considered, and an impactful material palette dominated by a dark-stained anigre wood. The apartment’s extraordinary light allowed the use of deep, dark colors and rich materials without it looking heavy. Nearly all the furniture was repurposed from the owners’ previous home and reshuffled to suit the new home. The window treatments were left minimal to take advantage of the views.
