Brookline Period Home Renovation

The owners liked the location and character of their new three-story traditional house from the 1910s but wanted it to work for their modern lifestyle. To accommodate their needs, the house was reconfigured to feel relaxed and comfortable yet easily adaptable for formal entertaining. The updated layout improved the flow between the spaces in a way that makes the most sense of how the family lives. Walls and floors were changed, and heavy ornate fireplace mantels were replaced with lighter, custom-designed, and patina-stained Chesney’s mantels. Linen-upholstered walls soften the sound. Custom pieces, such as a large curved sofa covered in embossed velvet, a dining table, and a bar bridge the traditional with the contemporary.
