Once a part of a large estate in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, a carriage house was transformed into a comfortable and functional four-story family home. While the owners wanted a house where their three children could roam free and where each room would be used daily, they also wanted it to feel glamorous. Lush, natural materials, high-quality craftsmanship, and careful consideration for each item define the interiors. Using a French ironwork motive, hammered iron details were created over interior doors and the bar, mimicking the shape of the outside windows, the only remaining original feature of the house. The library walls were upholstered in leather and the main bathroom was expanded to come into the bedroom, giving the room a real sense of luxury. Whimsical chandeliers were purchased from the owners’ favorite restaurant when it closed.
