Boston Back Bay Renovation

Perched in a classic Back Bay building, the 3,000 sq ft apartment retains historic elements and a sense of old glamor. Designed for a downsizing couple, the apartment accommodates a treasure trove of antique furniture and objects from the clients’ previous home mixed with contemporary and custom-made pieces and blue-chip contemporary art. The result is a masterful mix of Wiener Werkstätte, Decó, and Mission pieces complemented by plexiglass klismos chairs, an exuberant contemporary metal-and-crystal chandelier, and a Vladimir Kagan armchair. Gray Venetian plaster walls provide a backdrop to the artworks, most purchased specially for the space.
